DC Multiverse Classic Batgirl action figure review (2025)

Getting a Classic Batgirl from McFarlane Toys’ DC Multiverse line seemed like a long shot after getting a few versions of Barbara Gordon already in the line.

When the Classic Batgirl outfit was revealed at Wonder Con, it seemed like even some of the biggest McFarlane detractors had to begrudgingly give it up for what looks like another major win for the company.

Let’s see if this version of Batgirl is indeed a classic or just another case of close but not quite good enough.

Packaging:  It’s the same packaging setup here, which can’t make MOC collectors upset. We get the usual black color scheme with white accents Multiverse packaging. Along the side, the text states this is just Batgirl.

Over on the back we get a really nice portrait of Barbara Gordon in her nighttime crime fighting best.

Likeness: Classic Batgirl uses the Three Jokers Batgirl mold. It’s a solid choice for Batgirl as it doesn’t require a ton of additional new sculpting.

The gloves, belt and boot mold are already knocked out with the 3J Batgirl and the only difference is a new classic-skewing head sculpt i.e. a softer, younger portrait.

Additionally, McFarlane Toys went with the classic neck piece providing space on the ends for a poseable soft goods cape that’s blue on one side and black on the interior.

Scale: Classic Batgirl is not an Amazon like Wonder Woman and she’s thankfully shorter than the 6’2″ Batman and the 6′ 5″ Joker.

Paint: Classic Batgirl Catwoman’s paint job is indicative of most of the DC Multiverse figures — very smooth with little or no paint issues.

I really appreciate McFarlane Toys going with the comic style shading for her cowl with the addition of black paint on her forehead. Classic Batgirl features a strong shade of blue, which McFarlane did a perfect job of matching with the cape’s blue.

She’s got purple eye shadow and bright red hair. The shade of yellow used for her gloves, utility belt and boots definitely pops against the light grey bodysuit.

Articulation: Classic Batgirl has very fluid articulation thanks to the 22 points of articulation setup.

This mold also allows for some fun dynamic poses in other stances and she definitely benefits from the poseable wired cape. That adds so much to action shots and poses. It’s something that should be the norm for caped figures going forward as it really pluses the figures up.

Accessories: DC Multiverse figures traditionally don’t get a ton of accessories. Classic Batgirl gets the grapple gun with launching wire pool.

She also comes with a blue batarang.

As always, she comes with the trading card and black circular stand.

Worth it?  Classic Batgirl denotes the drastic price hike in the line. Earlier this year she would have been a basic $23 figure. Now she’s $28. She will probably be more expensive on the aftermarket so this will be considered a good price for her even though it’s less than ideal for a figure better suited for the $25 price point.

At least she has a cool soft goods cape to somewhat justify the price point.

McFarlane Toys really did a bang-up job with Classic Batgirl. This is one of the best figures they’ve delivered in the Multiverse line.

Where to get it?  Classic Batgirl seems like she’s going to be harder to track down as she’s sold out at Entertainment Earth.
