DC Comics reviews 11/26/25 – Absolute Batman 14, DC KO 2

DC KO 2 takes the chaos and decimation to a new level as the heroes and villains battle it out to survive the Second Round.

Writer Scott Snyder comes up with a fun challenge for the 32 survivors. They must acquire major weapons and items from the DC Universe including the power rings, the Claw of Horus, the Madusa Mask, Bane’s Venom and the Genie Pen. There is also a mystery weapon. Once all of them are grabbed, the contest is over and half the survivors are now out of the contest.

Snyder makes sure to emphasize Superman trying to make sure that Lex Luthor and the Legion of Doom don’t win. This is very much a Superman story and Snyder has done a strong job of spotlighting a character that to some has been in the spotlight too often and making it fresh.

Artist Javi Fernandez is a very solid artist, but some of the finer details are getting lost specifically the various characters engaged in battle in DC KO 2. Some of this is due to their gear changing up for the fight while other instances are just a matter of tightening up the focus. Some of the stronger highlights occur with a smaller number of characters, ideally two or three are interacting on the panel. Colorist Alejandro Sanchez and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou handle their roles smoothly.

Joshua Williamson writes the interlude segments with Xermanico drawing the game night with Clark, Lois, Diana and Bruce discussing strategy. These segments take on greater significance in DC KO 2 as they’re foreshadowing the actions Superman and crew have to do. While these segments are entertaining, it’s hard for Lois not to come off like the unnecessary tagalong. Maybe if Steve Trevor or Selina Kyle were also part of this game night, she wouldn’t stand out so much?

DC KO 2 doesn’t let up on the shocks for this installment as this event keeps picking up steam and setting up for another thrilling third round.
