“Breaking news” — Jeremy Adams knows how to make comic books fun. Sure, there’s time and a place for some serious dramatic life-altering events for our heroes, but sometimes it’s ok to just make an issue that makes readers smile.

Adams gets that better than most writers. He’s been doing that on Green Lantern for a while, but having the chance to add Green Arrow to the mix for some Hard Traveling Hero fun makes for an even better time. Adams shows once again there’s not a character whose voice he doesn’t have down precisely and writes them even in a cameo like he’s been writing them for years. Green Arrow readers won’t find this to be a jarring twist on Oliver Queen compared to how Chris Condon has been writing him.

Hal Jordan is trying to make sense of the visions he was shown last issue, but before tackling some major quest, he needs a little diversion and who better to provide it than his street-level crimefighting BFF? Adams has the GA/GL bond just as well as he does the Green Lantern and Flash dynamic. Speaking of the Scarlet Speedster, former Flash artist Carmine Di Giandomenico provides the art this issue.

Di Giandomenico has such a lively style that his pages look like there’s a constant sense of movement. That was an ideal setup for The Flash, but Di Giandomenico shows how easily it can work with Green Arrow and Green Lantern. Colorist Romulo Fajardo Jr. always delivers bright, vibrant colors and lighting effects while letterer Dave Sharpe provides clean dialogue and bombastic sound effects.

Sometimes comics are at their best when a creative team just keeps things simple. This is a great example of that notion making for one of my favorite reasds this month.
