DC Comics reviews 11/26/25 – Absolute Batman 14, DC KO 2
Justice League Unlimited 15
Mister Terrific sees some of his Terrific 10 fall in battle during their trek through Hell to confront Neron. Taking advantage of the confusion and panic that started with the emergence of the Apokolips pits and the potential end of the world, Neron has buying souls of supervillains in exchange for major upgrades to their powers.
This is proving problematic as normally chump villains like Rainbow Raider and Chroma are causing serious issues for the Justice League. Mr. Terrific leads Warrior, Power Girl, Dr. Fate, Alan Scott, Electric Superman, Batman Beyond, Owlwoman, Aquaman and Gold Hawk in this impossible mission. Writer Mark Waid has Alan Scott scoff at the notion of Amanda Waller’s Suicide Squad when this crew is actually on a mission that they have little chance of successfully completing.
The team interaction is surprisingly good considering this is a hodgepodge of heroes from different eras. Waid has a strong knack for character development even in a limited number of pages. If anything, Waid has used this DC KO tie-in to showcase Mr. Terrific as a key cog and major component of this iteration of the team.
Dan Mora’s art is never anything short of phenomenal. With a new backdrop of Hell and different characters to spotlight, Mora delivers some fantastic action sequences and emotional quiet beats. Colorist Tamra Bonvillain packs so many diverse colors in this issue from the mix of characters, their powers at play and the elaborate backgrounds. It’s a visual treat for readers. Letterer Ariana Maher incorporates a variety of dialogue boxes and unique sound effects.
While not a key DC KO 2 tie-in, this issue helps to explain what the planet’s first line of defense is doing with so many heavy hitters actively involved in the tournament.
