Marvel Legends Gamerverse Captain America vs Venom review (2025)
The Marvel Legends Gamerverse Captain America vs. Venom set gives us another “not” Marvel vs. Capcom two-pack to add to our MVC ranks. Unless the Gamerverse Captain America ends up being the best version of Steve Rogers yet?
Let’s see if Gamerverse Captain America vs. Venom is one of the strongest Marvel Legends two-packs of 2025 or if it’s best utilized for a video game crossover display.
Packaging: The Gamerverse line rocks a cool color palette for the package with a purplish-blue color scheme, the Gamerverse logo in the top with the game accurate colors and logos for Captain America and Venom.
The sides feature either the Gamerverse Captain America or Venom artwork from the game’s fighter select screen.
Over on the back is one picture with the game’s training mode backdrop as Gamerverse Captain America and Venom battle it out with their respective teammates waiting their turn to tag in based on their two-packs.
That’s a clever implementation of the cross sell.
There’s a minor write-up, but it’s nothing to get excited about since they can’t reference the game being showcased.
Likeness: Hasbro has released some strong Captain America figures lately with the 20th Anniversary figure topping the Alex Ross 80th Anniversary figure. The Secret Wars version (at Amazon) seemed to be the new favorite, but that reign now looks short-lived.
From the overall broader physique and excellent head sculpt, this looks like the top hero/leader in the Marvel Universe.
Cap looks to reuse most of the lower torso, crotch and legs from the 20th Anniversary figure minus the chain mail. This was the one thing that initially held me back on getting it, but I couldn’t pass on a good deal.
His boots do have a different style than the 20th or Secret Wars figures as the flair is more rounded rather than a triangle point angling down. This is a really nice-looking Captain America.
Gamerverse Venom initially looks like he is simply a game-accurate repaint of the stellar 85th Anniversary Venom figure from 2024, but he has a new torso with more of the butterfly shoulder articulation positioned to the back instead of the chest, new shoulders, arms without the tendrils from the 85th version and abs that end before the crotch, which leads to a new crotch as well.
It’s sneakily a ton of new sculpting here. His default head was the partial Eddie Brock/Venom sculpt used in the 2022 three pack with Riot and Agony (check that out at my affiliate Amazon).
His alternate, fully Venom head sculpt is a new one that at first glance, I thought was a re-release of the BAF Absorbing Man figure. This one has the creepier eyes, longer teeth and a different curl to the tongue with slime on various folds of it.
Paint: Gamerverse Captain America has a fairly clean paint job. The troublesome linework with the stripes on his lower torso are very neatly done. He just has a little overspray on his belt buckle.
His head sculpt has more of the paint issues with some of the mask not being painted. This is more from a trying to find something wrong with-it perspective than a serious issue.
Gamerverse Venom’s main issue is unsurprisingly needing another coat or two of white paint over his logo. The blue is somewhat bright making it harder for one hit of white paint to avoid the see-through nature of white against darker colors.
I really like how the half-Eddie/half-Venom head sculpt turned out as Eddie looks nice and intense with some shading around his eyes and a slight stubble.
Scale: Captain America is 6’2″ while Venom is around 6’3″ although his height is very inconsistent. His figure seems about right compared to the Gamerverse Captain America. Cap stands properly with the Iron Man and Thor figures we’ve gotten from Hasbro.
Gamerverse Venom also looks to be scaled properly as well.

Articulation: Gamerverse Captain America has terrific articulation. The addition of butterfly shoulders adds so much to Cap poses from shield throws to shield defenses. He’s a lot of fun to pose although I do wish he had the rocker torso to allow for a bit more side to side range.
Venom is pretty fun to pose. He’s a beefier figure who can be a little top heavy. My figure seems to be a bit weak at the ankles, which doesn’t always let him sink in smoothly for deep crouching poses.

Accessories: Gamerverse Captain America vs. Venom have an OK assortment of accessories.
Gamerverse Captain America has a set of hands with thumbs up. That fits with the game for his tag partner switch out and his victory pose, but it would have been nice to also get a spread fingers sculpt as well for when he’s slinging the shield.
His shield is on the small side, but at least there’s no holes or other battle damage to it. Likely the reason for the size of his shield is the translucent blue energy blast for his Charging Star special move.
Finally, Gamerverse Captain America has an alternate intense head sculpt. It’s an expressive, yelling sculpt for when the action gets hectic.
Gamerverse Venom has the aforementioned alternate head sculpt, which is more of his main one. He also comes with clawed hands, which are ideal for palming someone’s head.
Worth it? This set runs a range of $58 dollars, which puts them around $29 per figure. Target had a sale, which dropped the set down to closer to $39 depending on your available coupons. Taking it down to $50 made this a great value since both figures are certainly $25-worthy figures.
Rating: 10 out of 10
Venom proved to be a big surprise as the upgrades enhanced an already good figure while this Gamerverse Captain America is an excellent version of the Avengers leader.
