Transformers Studio Series 86 Mixmaster review (2025)
Mixmaster is the fifth Constructicon to complete the combiner Devastator. I’m kind of all over in terms of buying them, but I’m shy just one member of the team now. I had a lot of fun with my first one — Scrapper — so I’m expecting big things are in the mix for Mixmaster (sorry).
Let’s see if Mixmaster proves another worthwhile component of Devastator or if he’s the weak link that needs to undergo major reconstruction.
Packaging: Mixmaster is presented with the far less exciting packaging for Transformers. The front is split with window that does a good job of showcasing him although as usual, the accessories are obscured.
There’s a very nicely done drawing of Mixmaster with a larger image of his bot mode and a smaller take on his vehicle mode. The alt mode drawing seems like it got cut off on the front side as it doesn’t really show the back end of his mixer.
Turning to the left side, there’s an image of Devastator though the packaging doesn’t show where he’s situated on Devastator besides the animation cell used on the back. In keeping with the brief bio for Scrapper, Mixmaster’s writeup is generic and just states he helps form the giant combiner.
The back also shows both modes and that it takes 15 steps to transform him.
Likeness: Mixmaster isn’t one of the flashier Constructicons. He’s got a basic design with the most unique aspect of it being the back end of the mixer platform serving as a hood of sorts over his head. He’s got two wheels alongside his wide arms and thicker leg support starting at his knees.
His head sculpt has a nice neutral expression that fits his demeanor on the cartoon.
Scale: In the cartoon, all of the Constructicons were the same scale although their height compared to other Decepticons was all over the place. Mixmaster is just a little taller than Scrapper. He’s also looking up at Megatron and the Seekers. He’s taller than the Insecticons.
Alt Mode: Mixmaster transformers into a cement mixer that looks terrific. His drum mixer is a bit shorter, but it doesn’t look miniscule compared to the chassis.
The Constructicons’ vehicle mode look great next to each other and Mixmaster helps provide that uniform look thanks to that shared color scheme.
Transformation: It takes 15 steps to turn Mixmaster into the cement mixer vehicle mode. That’s certainly not one of the more complex figures to transform and converting him made sense so he was another that I had fun putting into his alt form.

Paint: Mixmaster rocks the Constructicons’ signature green-yellow and purple color scheme. He has less silver and red accents with a bit of black with the knobs on his chest piece and helmet. There is no problem with the paint applications.
As usual, I wish the eye slots were larger so his red eyes could be more prominent.
Articulation: Hasbro makes sure the Studio Series articulation figures have smooth articulation. Mixmaster doesn’t have any kibble or blocking elements that hinder his movement.
Mixmaster has:
- neck
- bicep
- ball-jointed shoulders
- elbows
- wrists
- wrist hinge
- torso
- hips
- thighs
- knees (double-jointed)
- ankles
Accessories: Mixmaster doesn’t have an abundance of accessories.
He does get his streamlined blaster. This is cartoon accurate and fits in his hands with no trouble. There’s also a port for it to be placed atop his roof in his alt mode.
Worth It? Mixmaster goes for $34.99. That’s a bit more than the usual $24.99 price point for his scale. There’s not much here to show where that extra $10 is going towards, which is why it’s helpful to get him on some sort of deal.
I grabbed him from Target, which knocked $5 off thanks to another sale. Even at $30 the value isn’t a steal, but he is solidly made.
Rating: 9.5 out of 10
Another Constructicon down and another winner for the Studio Series brand. Mixmaster turned out very well and gets me one step closer to Devastator.
Where to Get It? Mixmaster is showing up at retail now at Target and Walmart. Your best bet is to find him at stores and then check out Entertainment Earth and Amazon for more Constructicons.
