Space Ghost vol 2 7 review – Dynamite Entertainment

Space Ghost vol 2 7 is a rare two-part installment for a series that has specialized in telling exhilarating, engaging comprehensive stories in one month.

That gives Space Ghost vol 2 7 some additional gravitas as writer David Pepose doesn’t use multi-chapter arcs as a writing crutch.

Jan and Jace are all set to watch their grandfather, the brilliant inventor, Dr. Contra, unveil what he envisions to be his greatest creation yet — the ability to create life via an antimatter generator.

Before Dr. Contra can dazzle the world with his device, his business rival, Dr. Cyclo, unleashes an army of his robot drones to kidnap him.

Good thing Space Ghost was in the vicinity although his efforts to stave off the robots lewd to Dr. Contra being hospitalized and no longer acting like himself.
If that wasn’t enough, a new enhanced being, The Antimatter Man arrives ready to finish what Dr. Contra started.

Pepose always has a knack for cleanly introducing new villains in the mix and Space Ghost vol 2 7 is a strong example of how easily he can create an origin and pit the latest villain against Space Ghost.

Jace and Jan get plenty of “screen time” as well as Pepose shows it doesn’t have to be a hindrance to have younger sidekicks constantly in the mix.

Space Ghost vol 2 7 has more action than the usual issue allowing artist Jonathan Lau to cut loose with some creative layouts and unique perspectives.

Lau shifts up how he poses the characters making for more dramatic panels than the norm. Colorist Andrew Dalhouse brings plenty of vibrant colors to Space Ghost vol 2 7 with a variety of colors against the usual reds, whites and yellows. Letterer Taylor Esposito provides a flurry of fun sound effect fonts and easy to follow dialogue.

Space Ghost vol 2 7 gives readers a classic throwback feel with an imposing new villain and an ideal spot for a cliffhanger.
