GI Joe Classified Series Retro Cover Girl review (2025)
With Retro Cover Girl, the Classified Series team was able to lean into the Wolverine driver’s alternate look.
While her hairstyle color is definitely a matter of preference, she’s certainly one of the few CS figures whose initial head sculpt was in desperate need of a makeover.
Let’s see if the Retro Cover Girl is ready for her closeup or if she never needs the spotlight.
Packaging: Retro Cover Girl is naturally part of the retro line, so she lacks the cool presentation of most Joes in the Classified Series line especially since the artwork was likely done by AI.
All of the accessories are on full display, and the back has her file card in a variety of languages and the cross sell with wave mates Flint and the Retro Tele-Viper.
Likeness: Retro Cover Girl is based on her appearance in the first GI Joe mini-series.
Her outfit is more streamlined than the Real American Hero design with less holsters and gear. The jacket is different as it lacks the fur and is full length sleeves as opposed to the partially raised original CS version.
This head sculpt is much more fitting for a model with a less Botox infused cheekbones sculpt. She’s got long blonde hair to match the cartoon mini-series version since two redheads would have been confusing.
Retro Cover Girl has a lone holster on her right hip.
Scale: Retro Cover Girl is slightly shorter than other female figures like Scarlett and Lady Jaye.

Paint: Retro Cover Girl has the cartoon color scheme with a classic shade of olive green for her jacket and pants.
Her shirt is tan, and her boots are mostly brown with some black accents. The CS team has done a great job adding subtle makeup effects, which doesn’t look like she applied with a paint roller.
The blonde hair is a nice touch and certainly helps make her look more distinct compared to Scarlett, Lady Jaye, Helix and Shooter.
Articulation: In this gear, Retro Cover Girl is more focused on toiling on vehicles instead of bashing Cobra.
Still, she’s got the usual stellar level of Classified Series articulation.
Retro Cover Girl has:
- head
- neck
- shoulders (butterfly)
- elbow (double-jointed)
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- mid-torso
- torso
- waist
- hips (ball-jointed)
- drop down hips
- knees (double-jointed)
- ankles
Accessories: Retro Cover Girl has a decent number of accessories.
First is her alternate head sculpt, with her hair styled into a ponytail. This secondary portrait has a serious expression.
You can swap the portraits and hair to mix and match the mood you want for that particular moment.
Next up are her tools. Hasbro reused her wrench from the previous release with a new paint decos.
She also has a sledgehammer, which would come pretty handy in making repairs in The Pit.
To reflect her cartoon inspiration, Retro Cover Girl comes with the XMLR-3A laser rifle and a smaller pistol that’s not like the one used for many Classified Series figures.
Finally, she comes with a set of fists.
Worth It? Retro Cover Girl is the old price point of $25 so her value is very solid.
She’s distinct enough from the first one thanks to the accessories that she easily could make for a new character.
Rating: 10 out of 10
Retro Cover Girl was one of the bigger surprises for me this year. I thought the figure would be good, but the accessories and display options really put her over the top to make her one of my favorites for the CS line in 2025.
