MOTU Masterverse New Eternia Kobra Khan review (2025)
Kobra Khan is one of the more complex villains in the Masters of the Universe saga. He started out as a member of Skeletor’s crew before aligning with King Hiss and the Snake Men. Depending on your preferred continuity, Kobra Khan was working as a mole for Skeletor or a fully devoted Snake Man.
With the New Eternia line, Mattel gets another opportunity to explore a new path for the mist-spewing snake. Let’s see if Kobra Khan is ready to be the head snake or if he deserves a water spray to the face.
Packaging: The Masterverse packaging remains the pinnacle for retail lines and even most higher end lines can’t touch their quality. It starts with the gorgeous artwork on the front with Kobra Khan leading Tongue Lasher and Rattlor through a fiery backdrop. This image carries over to the left side of the package.
Over on the right side is the more New Eternia focused look with Kobra Khan’s hood flared out and the wide image showing him holding his mace and spewing some mist. Below that image is the first Snake Men logo in the New Eternia line.
On the back is a shot of Kobra Khan in a jungle of sorts with various images showing off his accessories. His bio is intriguing as it implies that in this lore, it’s KK who’s leading the Snake Men and not King Hiss…at least for now.
Likeness: Kobra Khan has a very cool design that allows for some fun changes to fit in with the New Etheria aesthetic while still looking like his classic version. His head sculpt is fantastic with an incredible snake portrait with scales, immaculately done snake eyes and an open jaw with a forked tongue. Here’s how he looks with the MOTU Classics version.
The scales continue throughout his torso and shoulders.
Kobra Khan’s harness keeps a reptilian theme with overlapping, decreasing scales going down to his belt. In the center is a curled snake on an armored crest while his belt also has a snake in the middle.
The scale theme continues with his layered skirt piece. He’s got shin and ankle armor that allow his feet to show. He wears the common MOTU bracers with studs in the center.
Scale: Kobra Khan isn’t a giant and fits in as a regular height figure next to most of Skeletor’s warriors. Without any other Snake Men, he’ll be hanging with Skeletor’s crew until they arrive.

Paint: Typically, the Masterverse figures are exceptional with the paint jobs. Kobra Khan has what looks like a straight up gash at the bottom of his right harness. His teeth also have a little overspray of the green. Those are the issues with an otherwise well painted figure.
His bright lime green body pops. The brown skirt and boots and copper harness contrast nicely and the yellow green snake logo and belt.
Articulation: He’s got the usual 30 points of articulation allowing him plenty of range to be a distance and long-range fighter. ANYTHING ELSE??
Kobra Khan has:
- neck
- jaw
- ball-jointed shoulders
- bicep
- elbow (double-jointed)
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- torso
- waist
- hip
- thigh
- knee
- ankle
Accessories: Kobra Khan gets a ton of accessories, which has been the norm for these New Eternia figures.
First up is the removable hood, which plugs into his back.
His mouth has an opening for his acid/mist. It’s a translucent purple material and can also plug into his blaster.
That is a common weapon for him and as usual, it’s cast in orange. A new aspect of it is the blaster front is shaped like a snake opening its mouth.
If you don’t want to be so obvious with his Snake Men affiliation, you can swap out the chest plate for a basic plate that maintains the scale pattern.
To mix up his look a bit, you can swap out the standard hand for pinchers. That’s a fun twist.
Finally, he’s got his mace. It’s the same yellow green of his belt and has solid detailing at the crown and base.
Worth it? Thanks to a pal, I was able to get Kobra Khan for the Ross price of $10. It’s really hard to beat that kind of value. Even if he cost $25, he’s well worth it. This line continues to be a great value for all of the possible display options.
Rating: out of 10
Where to Get It? The New Eternia figures have been pretty hard to find in stores. You can get Kobra Khan at Amazon or from the case pack from Entertainment Earth.
