Star Wars The Black Series ISB Tactical Agent review (2025)
The ISB Tactical Agent was heavily featured in one of the standout episodes of Andor’s second season. Per Star Wars rules, any time a cool character shows up on screen, I’m obliged to want them as a figure in the Black Series line. Hey, I don’t make the rules.
Let’s see if the ISB Tactical Agent is worth building a small army or if it won’t be able to stand up against the Ghor.
Packaging: The ISB Tactical Agent is the 17th figure in the Andor line, which has been rolling along. As usual, it’s got the mostly black color scheme with a red orange accent color. He’s standing next to Director Krennic with the backdrop of TIE Fighters and maybe Ghorman?
The bio does a great job of summarizing the purpose and role of the ISB Tactical Agent in the Empire’s peak propaganda era.
Likeness: The ISB Tactical Agent largely uses the Solo: A Star Wars Story Mud Trooper and Patrol Trooper molds with new shoulder pauldrons, forearm armor and belts and skirt piece. There’s no issue with that reuse since they’re part of the Imperial army and it’s not like they had to make drastic compromises to match up to the source material.
While it doesn’t specify a certain ISB agent, it would have been cool to get a Sgt. Benzi or Sgt. Gharial likeness. In a departure from the typical Stormtrooper appearance, the ISB Tactical Agent doesn’t wear a mask and is perfectly fine showing their face. This basic head sculpt is the Imperial hat is scaled well and doesn’t look too small or too big on the head.
Some of them pack more gear leading to more straps along their armor, but this is the basic ISB Agent.
The Patrol Troopers’ armor only has one strap on the shin armor instead of two like the ISB agents. Some agents’ armor, like Benzi and Gharial, have a communication device on the upper right section. This version doesn’t have it although there were some agents who didn’t have that comm attachment so this isn’t fully an oversight from the Black Series design team.
Scale: The ISB Tactical Agent is a regular sized guy and will be about eye level with Director Krennic and slightly shorter than a Stormtrooper.

Paint: The ISB Tactical Agent has the toughest color combination to apply properly with white and black. Most of the figure’s parts are cast in the respective colors, but the forearm armor is sloppily applied on one of my two figures. The second has issues with some missing paint on the silver belt buckle.
Both figures are missing some paint on the bottom of the top belt’s pouches.
One area that’s very well done is the head sculpt paint specifically with the five o’clock shadow and fully conveying that beady eyed steely look.
Articulation: The ISB Tactical Agent doesn’t benefit from the newer articulation model and lacks the butterfly joints that would be helpful for poses. Fortunately, this isn’t an early era BS mold either so the single-jointed elbows still have a really good range, and the knees can still hit some solid stances despite the skirt piece.
The ISB Tactical Agent has:
- neck (ball-jointed)
- shoulders
- elbow (with swivel)
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- torso
- hips
- thighs
- knees (double jointed)
- ankles
Accessories: The ISB Tactical Agent has the removable hat to allow for some swaps with other figures for more members to your ISB display. I went with the Marvel Legends Everett Ross head sculpt even though it’s not a snug fit for the ISB agent’s post.
His main weapon is the Model 22T4 ISB Special. It lacks the detail of some of the other Black Series guns as there’s no accent colors, but it does have the usual strong details in the blaster construction.
Worth it? The ISB Tactical Agent was $24.99, but Target eventually put them on clearance starting at $13 and then for an even cheaper price at $7.49. The ability to swap heads made these an easy army builder at that price point. They’re not a bad value at $25 either. Now, they’re around $21.
Rating: 9.5 out of 10
