Ghost Pepper 9
A revolution is about to start whether Bataar is ready for it or not.
After the massacre at Prospektor, Loloi is ready to ride with Ash to take the fight right to the false savior of their planet. Bataar has become increasingly concerned that Ash was going to ruin his fantastic life after taking credit for Ash’s work in saving the world. That paranoia prompted him to send one of Ash’s old colleagues to wipe him out. Instead, it just made Ash mad and no longer content on the sidelines bemoaning how Bataar stole everything that mattered to him.
While Ghost Pepper has largely been a fun, laid-back ride, writer/artist/letterer Ludo Lullabi saves the laughs and good-natured humor for a more intense action installment. Lullabi’s dynamic sense of perspectives and layout arrangements makes Ghost Pepper such a brilliant visual treat. Combined with Adriano Lucas’ bombastic color work it’s too easy to envision this as a breakout hit animated series.
This was a different type of issue for Ghost Pepper as the investment in the characters allowed Lullabi to shift to a larger action focus and make it feel well-earned. The check appears to be due for Bataar and Ash and his allies are coming to collect.
