Absolute Superman 18

absolute superman 18

Absolute Superman continues its blistering hot streak with an exciting new story arc with two major debuts that could dramatically affect Superman’s quest for peace.

Lois Lane is going Al Ghul hunting as she wants revenge on Ra’s and Talia for killing her father. While Talia broke him out of captivity, Ra’s isn’t interested in returning to his former ways.

In a flashback, Teth Adam recalls his harsh life as a slave and his desperate desire to gain power to battle his enslavers. Writer Jason Aaron comes up with a clever way for Shazam and another legacy magical hero to make their debuts.

That’s not all the new arrivals this issue. While Superman tries to diffuse the standoff between Lois and Talia, a man with a massive hammer arrives on the scene with his own score to settle. Aaron keeps the action intense and thrilling as the Absolute Superman corner of the Absolute Universe continues to expand.

Rafa Sandoval returns as the artist this issue with his clean, detailed style. Sandoval is such a fantastic storyteller with precise panel arrangements and dramatic perspectives. Colorist Ulises Arreola uses a darker color palette to match the tone of the story wonderfully shine letterer Becca Carey smoothly incorporates dramatic sound effect fonts.

This new arc offers some tantalizing possibilities and unlocks equally exciting directions Aaron, Sandoval and crew can take the story next.
