WWE Legends Series 25 Bret Hit Man Hart review (2025)
Bret Hit Man Hart is starting to be the dominant wrestler in my Mattel WWE collection. He’s clearly been a favorite of the Mattel team, which is cool since Bret (along with Sting) is also my favorite.
For the Legends 25th wave, it makes sense to have one of the major icons from Hulk Hogan, The Rock, The Ultimate Warrior, Stone Cold, Shawn Michaels or The Hit Man Hart included. This figure is based on his appearance at WrestleMania 9 for his WWF title defense against Yokozuna.
Mattel has largely been masters of consistency when it comes to Hit Man Hart. Let’s see if this Mania-inspired figure is a memorable one or should be squashed under my Yokozuna figure.
Packaging: Bret Hit Man Hart gets the usual Legends packaging with that now signature warm gold, brown and orange color scheme. The side portraits feature a very classic portrayal of The Hit Man.
Over on the back is the don’t take for granted still awesome bio. This one is particularly well done as it sets the stage for the WrestleMania 9 match up without spoiling the results. Instead, it builds Bret up as the classic hero going against a mighty Goliath.
Likeness: Mattel has found what seems to be the best head sculpt and body parts formula for The Hit Man, so I won’t break this one down as thorough as some other figures. I still wish they could figure out a way to work in a few bangs just to have that wet hair creeping over his forehead look.
The body mold gives Bret solid definition while still being a physical underdog to larger guys on the roster.
He’s got his elbow pads and knee pads, which are a welcome smaller size that more accurately reflect Hit Man Hart’s gear and aren’t as cumbersome as some of the larger knee and elbow sleeves.
Scale: Bret is 6’, which puts him slightly shorter than most of his peers like the 6’1″ Shawn Michaels, 6’3″ IRS and 6’4″ Bam Bam Bigelow and Yokozuna. He is the same height as his main rival through 1993 in Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler.

Paint: To be a fan of Hitman Hart means to appreciate the subtle differences in his attire. The Mania 9 gear features hot pink instead of the usual flat pink. It stands out a bit more and will be hard to miss among a sea of pink and black figures.
As usual, Mattel’s WWE team is locked in with the paint work and detail. Despite the tight lining of his singlet, the white outline is very clean without any spilling over into the hot pink section. The tight detail is even accurate to his Mania 9 attire.
The details like the Hitman logo are crisp with no smearing or hazy coverage. Just as impressive is the precise work on the boots with very clean application of the pink lining along the white boots.
Articulation: Bret Hit Man Hart is one of the all-time great wrestlers and a master technician.
I’m partial to the Ultimate Edition articulation for his figures since it makes for easier submission moves and a tighter looking Sharpshooter.
Bret can hit all of his trademark moves with the exception of a good-looking Russian leg sweep, sleeper, or small package.
You won’t have much trouble hitting his piledriver, diving lariat, figure four and bulldog.
Bret Hit Man Hart has:
- neck
- bicep
- ball-jointed shoulders
- elbows (double-jointed)
- wrists
- wrist hinge
- torso
- waist
- hips
- thighs
- knees (double-jointed)
- ankles
Accessories: Hit Man Hart always has plenty of accessory options. It’s more of a matter of what Mattel will include with each figure. This time Bret comes up a little short in this category.
He doesn’t get his black (with white accents) leather jacket although I think some previous Hit Man Hart figures have a similar looking jacket.
As usual, he does have multiple swappable hand options — fists and open palms.
He also gets a plastic pair of his pink sunglasses. These have a cool hot pink shade and a sheen to them which looks more like the reflective material Bret’s glasses had.
Worth It? Bret Hit Man Hart retailed at the base Elite price of $22.99. As a Legends figure, you can always count on Target discounting them. I grabbed him for $11. Not a bad deal at all, which is helpful since Bret gets a little shortchanged on the accessory front.
Rating: 9.5 out of 10
Hit Man Hart gets a figure that’s almost excellently executed. His head sculpt still isn’t quite perfect, but this is otherwise a very solid figure.
Where to Get It? As a Legends figure, Bret Hit Man Hart is a Target exclusive and he’s still available right now on Target’s website.
