MOTU Masterverse New Eternia Fisto review (2022)
New Eternia Fisto provides a quick update to a Masterverse Revelations figure that was very good. It feels like Mattel considers him the second strongest man in Eternia. But how does he fare in the reimagined New Eternia? That’s a solid question, but the real one is will the New Eternia Fisto prove to be the definitive take on one of He-Man’s staunchest allies?
Let’s see if Fisto is a hands down winner or if he’s not worthy of a high-10.
Packaging: The New Eternia Masterverse line boasts the best packaging around. New Eternia Fisto has the stellar wraparound front to left side artwork from Simon Eckert featuring Fisto battling some monstrous beasts alongside He-Man. The right side has the tighter vintage style look while the wide image features Fisto in his New Eternia gear with white in his beard and longer hair.
New Eternia Fisto gets a more complex bio as Skeletor cut off his hand leading him to bond with the Iron Fist, which he plans to use to exert some serious payback.
Likeness: New Eternia Fisto has many of the core elements of his classic look with some noticeable alterations.
The most obvious is his right arm, which now is fully armored up as well as having a prosthetic fist. With the gears and plating it does almost seem like Fisto chose to completely swap out his arm so he could have a greater advantage on the battlefield. This does take away from his gimmick but does create distinction from other Fisto designs.
His default head sculpt is very different as well with a Happuri (face guard) with rounded studs throughout. New Eternia Fisto also sports a much thicker beard that covers his neck and wears his hair in a top knot. Fisto’s expression is stoic so he can fit in basically any scenario. His chest armor is wider with ornate detailing accompanying the studs.
The center piece section is one strip down feeding to and one across. His purple shirt looks more like light armor with vertical slots. An added design piece is fur underneath the shoulder pads perhaps to soften the impact of the metal on skin?
There are still some classic elements in the design with his jeweled belt, loincloth and left wrist bracelet along with the furry top, wrapped boots.
Scale: New Eternia Fisto is shown around average height although in some cases he has been shown to be the tallest regular Masters next to He-Man. That holds true with the New Eternia line as well.

Paint: Masterverse figures are normally free from annoying paint issues. New Eternia Fisto has some minor issues namely a scratch of the white stripe and a few oversprays of the pearlescent purple onto the silver. That seems to be more of a case of the sculpted segments creating gaps for the paint to slip into than sloppy paintwork.
The deep purple does pop and contrasts nicely against the light silver armor. Another visual shift is Fisto’s red hair is brown. That’s probably a mistake since even with the rest of the New Eternia Fisto design and package art, he’s still sporting his trademark red hair. I’ll probably touch that up with a dark red wash.
Articulation: Fisto is definitely a close-quarters fighter so he can take advantage of his big metal fist. The lack of butterfly shoulders can be a hindrance at times with the Masterverse articulation scheme and it’s most noticeable with a character like Fisto.
That doesn’t mean he’s suffering to move with 30 points of articulation, but he can’t strike as many dynamic poses leading with his fists. His longer haired head sculpt also has some limitations with the range as well so it can’t move too smoothly looking far to the left or right.

Accessories: Like most of the line, New Eternia Fisto has terrific rollout of accessories.
First, he’s got an alternate head that has more of a classic look with shorter hair and beard. There’s no armored circlet this time and his hair is cut just below his ear.
Fisto’s big weapon this time is a battle hammer, which is fairly massive and has two removable heads.
One is a mace style rounded cap with studs and the other is more like a drill point. The really cool thing here is Fisto can swap any of these out and place the fist on the battle hammer adding new display options for him.
He also has a thin, long sword that he can use with his left hand, which comes with a swappable fist. The sword can get placed in a loop on the back of his shoulder armor.
Worth it? New Eternia Fisto is going for around $17. That’s a great value for this line especially considering the average price for figures now is $28.

New Eternia Fisto is a tremendous figure who’s just held back a bit with the lack of butterfly shoulders to really accentuate his melee fighting skills.
