McFarlane Toys Page Punchers Martian Manhunter review (2026)
The McFarlane Toys Page Punchers Martian Manhunter gives fans of one of the Justice League mainstays to get a more classic take of the character. It also provides another outlet for those who missed out on the Multiverse version and needed another crack at adding him to their collection.
Let’s see if the DC Direct Martian Manhunter has enough differences to justify a double dip for Justice League fans or if this one can just stay on Mars.
Packaging: The Page Punchers Martian Manhunter has that harder clamshell that requires scissors to open up. Page Punchers have an interesting design layout with the black backdrop to showcase the figure and the white and black color scheme with red accents to provide a little extra pop.
On the back is the cover influence for the figure. In this case it’s Justice League America 72 vol. 2 featuring the return of J’onn J’onzz to the JLA ranks.
Likeness: Page Punchers Martian Manhunter gets a new head sculpt with a more pronounced brow than the previous release. It makes him look more thoughtful while capturing his calm demeanor. J’onn’s unique cross hatch harness and high collar cape was done well and was reused from the first classic MM.
Another big shift from the previous release is the switch to a soft goods cape. You can flare the collar up to get it more in line with how it’s drawn in the comics. That’s the difficulty in pulling off the high collar look with soft goods.
Switching off to the soft goods cape makes the Page Punchers Martian Manhunter’s cape clasps rest better against the chest harness. Everything else from the body mold, the belt, tights and boots is a direct reuse.

Scale: One area where the Multiverse Martian Manhunter lacked compared to other JLA figures was his height. He was shorter than Kyle Rayner when he should be more eye to eye — if not taller — to Superman. The Page Punchers Martian Manhunter didn’t get a significant scale boost although the new head sculpt is slightly taller than the earlier figure.
Paint: This is the other big significant difference with the Page Punchers Martian Manhunter and the previous figure. J’onn gets a much lighter shade of green this time that matches up better with the usual portrayals of his skin tone in the comic books. The lighter hue certainly helps the Page Punchers Martian Manhunter stand out a bit more on the shelf with his other founding JLA teammates.
I would have liked to have seen some shading under his brow to help make his eyes pop. Just like I would have liked for his eyes to be the correct color of red instead of white. That’s a weird mistake to make and one that is a very puzzling problem given all of the reference material shows his eyes are normally red. The yellow cape clasps and belt buckle are now gold while the reds and blues of his outfit are brighter. The color match of the cape, trunks and boots is pretty commendable.
Articulation: Martian Manhunter is skilled at various types of fighting — up close or from a distance. Outside of the soft good cape making it easier to hit some poses, as it’s not providing a constant drag on him. The Page Punchers Martian Manhunter has the same range of motion of the previous release, which means his neck needs better up and down movement.
Everything else with his articulation scheme is the norm for a McFarlane DC Multiverse figure so there’s not many surprises at this point.

Accessories: McFarlane Toys rarely goes above and beyond with accessories and Page Punchers Martian Manhunter gets the absolute minimum. I wonder if the soft goods cape eats into some of the accessory budget?
Regardless, J’onn gets the trademark black stand, the trading card and a replica of Justice League of America 77. The comic is a decent inclusion for collectors who might not have read that particular issue.
Worth it? The Page Punchers line retails for $29.99 at retail. With the unavoidable price hikes across all lines these days, the Page Punchers subset line really doesn’t come with enough to justify that base price. If you can get him on sale that is for sure the best route to get this Martian Manhunter especially if you already have the first one.

Given J’onn’s status on so many Justice League teams, I wasn’t bothered by idea of buying two figures when the differences were mainly aesthetic. I love the soft good cape and the hue but really wish this Page Punchers Martian Manhunter got a scale boost as well.
