Jada Toys Mega Man – Elec Man review (2024)

Elec Man has the rep of being the toughest of the Robot Masters to overcome in the first Mega Man game so it’s fitting I tackle his review later on through this breakdown of Jada Toys’ Mega Man 1 lineup.

Jada’s Mega Man series has been a pleasant surprise, and it would be shocking (heh-heh) if Elec Man was the first let down.

Let’s see if Elec Man shows a spark or if he simply fizzles out.

Packaging:  Jada doesn’t spend too much time making dynamic packaging. The Mega Man packaging is set up like the game’s loading screen complete with the energy bar on the left side. I love the artwork showing Elec Man ready to create a shocking encounter for Mega Man.

That’s the only real unique aspect of the packaging, which would benefit greatly from a bio and more on the back than an action shot. There is no cross sell on the back of this packaging, which would also help make it not look so dull.

Likeness: Elec Man mostly uses the Fire Man mold with a new head, chest overlay and forearms. Jada has utilized smart reuse without compromising the look of the figure. If a character needs new parts, they’ll sculpt it instead of deciding something that already exists in the parts lab is good enough. The chest overlay is thick and wide enough to help make him stand out compared to the other Robot Masters.

Elec Man gets two of the better head sculpts for the line. His default portrait shows him looking very annoyed with a scowl and his eyes focusing on what’s ahead, likely Mega Man. The second has a ton of personality with a glance to the right side and an animated expression as he’s about to unleash his lighting. His mask is a lot of fun as well with a domino style setup with a lightning bolt in the center.

Scale: Elec Man is the same height as Mega Man, which puts him shorter than making him shorter than Fire Man and taller than Ice Man. I appreciate that Jada is providing a little diversity with the heights of the Robot Masters.

Paint: The original Robot Masters had a pretty basic color scheme with one dominant color, a secondary color and possibly a third accent color. Elec Man’s main color is black with an orange bodysuit and boot tops.

His accent color is yellow, but it’s got decent coverage on his outfit with the mask, wristbands and boots in addition to the lightning bolt on his chest. There’s also a touch of grey for his eyelids and blue for his eyes. Even with smaller more precise costume elements, the paintwork is smooth. Jada is quickly earning a welcome level of consistency with the paintwork.

Articulation: Elec Man, like the other Robot Masters, basically jumped and unleashed his Thunder Beam. Articulation doesn’t have need to be a priority with these figures, yet Jada sure makes it fun to have a more challenging, lengthy battle between Mega Man and Elec Man.

Of course, the fun with the line is you can have Mega Man use the various weapon accessories from the defeated Robot Masters to battle the others. In this case, grab Cut Man’s boomerangs to take Elec Man out to play out the best strategy to beat him in the game.

Like the other figures, he’s got a lot of unexpected range of motion, and he benefits from the deeper joint cuts.

Elec Man has:

• knee (double-jointed)
• ankle

Accessories:  Elec Man has the same static allotment of accessories that Jada provides for every Mega Man figure.

He’s got a unique mix of hands with a thumbs up left hand and a pointing index finger right hand.

As usual, he’s got an effect piece to show off his power. in Elec Man’s case, it’s a translucent yellow lightning burst. It’s not quite the wave of his Thunder Beam, but it gets the job done to some extent. A better Jada option for the Thunder Beam is the electrical shock pieces that come with Blanka (available on Amazon).

Finally, he’s got the alternate head, which I already mentioned. It is a neat touch that there’s two shades of blue in the eyes of the more animated sculpt.

Worth it?  The normal price on these figures is around $21.99, which is a very good deal considering what you get. The value is strong and the price isn’t ridiculous just because like some other lines.

Elec Man is a fantastic addition to the line with his unique sculpt and color scheme. It’s no longer shocking that Jada keeps delivering with this line.
