McFarlane Collector Edition Elongated Man review (2026)
Elongated Man brings McFarlane Toys’ DC Multiverse line a little closer to reaching the finish line of completing the Satelitte era of the Justice League of America before Mattel gets the full DC license again in 2027. Elongated Man might not seem like an essential JLA member, but he had a lengthy stint with the team through various incarnations making him one of the longer tenured members before DC writers started thinking fun was a four-letter word.
Regardless, the squeaky wheel of the JLU has made it to the McFarlane line.
Let’s see if Ralph Dibney gets a figure worth stretching out to create some space on the JLA display or if this figure will lead him to another Identity Crisis.
Packaging: As part of the Collector Edition line, Elongated Man gets the silver foil accents swapping out for the basic white. As usual, the CE figures have a wider window showing off the accessories and provide a nice clean look at the figure. The side panel is generic and just states that this is the DC Classic take on Dibney.
Over on the back is pin-up portrait of EM that oddly uses the background images of his Who’s Who entry but changes the main one. This provides a nice look at Ralph’s costumes over the years.
Likeness: Elongated Man largely uses the Blue Beetle mold, which in a rarity was actually the best choice of molds for him even if sculpted boot lines don’t exactly match his V-shaped boot tops. There’s something just a bit off with the head sculpt.
His head is a tad too wide with his jowls being slightly too pronounced and his inquisitive smirk and raised left eyebrow always him look suspicious. It’s far too serious for one of the JLA’s most lighthearted members. This wouldn’t be a bad choice for an alternate expression, but it’s not ideal for the one and only sculpt. At least his hair is perfect.
Occasionally, McFarlane will incorporate an inaccurate bit of tooling to accommodate a repaint or reuse. For Elongated Man’s main figure has extra glove cuffs, which aren’t necessary for this outfit. The glove cuffs are correct for his white and lavender outfit, which we do get for the Platinum version.
Thankfully the cuffs are removable proving that the McFarlane crew can absolutely do right by the appropriate costume looks when they’re focused.
Scale: Elongated Man is 6’1″ so he’s looking up at most of his JLA teammates including the 6’2” Hal Jordan, Oliver Queen and the 6’3” Superman. He should be just a tad taller than the 6′ Flash.

Paint: McFarlane figures typically don’t have a lot of paint issues. Any problems with the paint are more of a color hue choice instead of sloppy applications. Elongated Man’s classic outfit is red and black with some yellow/gold accents for the trim of his gloves, boot tips and his belt.
Oddly, the belt is painted like it might be colored in a comic book with random black lines instead of even lines around it. That was a weird choice since it looks worse than leaving it plain or taking the time to accurately paint the lines.
They did not miss the obvious layup here and did release a Platinum version of Elongated Man in his white and lavender outfit, which is really just a matter of a repaint. That outfit features a split down the middle with the two colors with a black line around his chest and arms with Em near the left breast. The line work is very clean and there’s no issues with the Em although there are some small parts of the black line that is less pristine than most of it.
McFarlane also decided to add a little touch of blue into the black areas of his gloves and boots. I don’t hate that choice even if the shading is not applied to all of the costume elements and all of his gloves.
Both versions do an excellent job with Ralph’s hair getting that perfect comic book shade of red orange onto the figure.
Articulation: Elongated Man is really not a fighter among the JLA. He’s more of a great detective who uses his stretching abilities to keep opponents at bay. You can lean into his powers set with the 22 points of articulation.
With a few more swappable parts though, he could have been a lot of fun to showcase his stretching abilities in a combat situation.

Accessories: Elongated Man gets a ton of accessories even if they are mostly reused from the Build-A-Figure Plastic Man. That’s hardly the worst character to borrow accessories from for Elongated Man, but it would have been nice to get unique stretched out parts for Ralph in this Collector Edition format.
He gets swappable arms with a right hand forming a lasso and the left arm with curvy, stretched out fingers. An extended neck piece would have been welcome and help distinguish him from Plas. Ironically, Elongated Man’s right arm is commonly shown as a wavy lasso so it’s more appropriate for him than Plastic Man.
Additionally, he has a few more hand options including a flat palm left hand, a pointing right hand and a set of spread hands.
As always, he’s got the black circle stand and trading card. Elongated Man definitely would have benefitted from an alternate head sculpt
Worth it? Elongated Man feels the sting as these Collector Edition figures shot up to $34.99. The value isn’t great at that price point at least without a few more accessories and another head sculpt. Waiting on a sale might be the better play in this instance.

Ralph gets a very nice figure who just needed a more carefree fun head sculpt and just one new stretched piece to be an excellent take on Elongated Man.
Where to get it? Elongated Man wasn’t available at all the stores. I did see him at Target a few times. If you can’t find him in stores, the best bet is to grab him from Amazon or from Entertainment Earth.
