Star Wars The Black Series Kit Fisto review (2025)

Kit Fisto was a prominent Jedi during the Clone Wars era. While he just had glorified cameo roles in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, he got far more of a spotlight in The Clone Wars cartoon series.

Hasbro has finally started to show a bit more love to the prequel era with the Black Series line and Kit Fisto was due for an upgrade. Instead of getting an all-new version, he got a rerelease of his earlier Black Series figure just done in the 20th anniversary ROTS retro wave. Since I didn’t have a BS Kit Fisto, I grabbed him despite a few obvious flaws.

Let’s see if this Jedi can swim his way to the top of if his order (66) is up.

Packaging: Kit Fisto is packaged in the classic Revenge of the Sith 3.75″ scale presentation with the Darth Vader silhouette and bubble style setup from the original figures back in 2005. This should definitely encourage collectors to double dip as it’s almost looks too nice to open.

There’s a nice die-cut image of Kit Fisto wielding his lightsaber as one of the four Jedi that battled Chancellor Palpatine. Next to the image is the prominent Star Wars Revenge of the Sith logo. The back lacks the typical great Black Series bio and instead is a proclamation of how this figure celebrates ROTS’ 20th anniversary.

Likeness: Kit Fisto stands out among most of the named Clone Wars era Jedi thanks to his distinct tentacles and big wide eyes. The Black Series team nailed the tentacle layout complete with sculpted rings near the tips, the ridges on his head and the larger, wider eyes. This is largely where the accuracy to Kit’s Revenge of the Sith look ends.

His tunic should have a Nehru collar that’s fairly high on his neck. That leaves little of the inner tunic visible. The Black Series Kit Fisto reuses an Obi-Wan Kenobi mold right down to the belt, which is basically just a row of pouches and small cylinders. It’s noticeably different than Obi-Wan’s.

The sleeves and boots are fine, and Kit has wider thicker hands to grab his lightsaber.

Scale: In the prequels, the Jedi rarely stood in a manner to accurately judge their heights against each other. For Clone Wars, Kit Fisto was drawn shorter than Obi-Wan and taller than Shaak-Ti for some frame of reference. That said, his BS figure is not the tallest of the Jedi, so he fits in scale-wise just fine.

Paint: There are no sloppy paint apps with Kit Fisto, but some puzzling choices with the paint color choices that are off-model enough that it seems like he didn’t get any quality control on this front.

His skin tone should be a faint, light green with some darker green patches and more of a brown wash. It looks like the paint app instructions put too great an emphasis on the brown wash, which completely muddies up the light green skin tone.

The figure has fading and some darker green areas, but he really needed a lighter green as the base color and very faint washes.

Kit Fisto’s outer tunic should be a lighter brown with a dark brown inner tunic that matches the shade of his pants. Here, the pants look more of a dark grey than brown.

Articulation: Since this is an older mold, Kit Fisto doesn’t get the benefit of the very useful butterfly shoulders joints. He still has pretty decent range of movement, but he isn’t going to dethrone Obi-Wan or Anakin from the SDCC Exclusive ROTS set.

Naturally, Kit has some neck limitations due to the tentacles, but the elbow range allows him to strike a double grip lightsaber stance. His open left hand also makes for some variety in his action poses as he can mimic using the Force to push back against Battle Droids.

Kit Fisto has:

Accessories: The Black Series typically isn’t very generous when it comes to accessories. Kit Fisto hardly breaks the streak. He’s got his lightsaber with a removable green blade. Given how narrow the connection tip is for the blade, I’d prefer if Hasbro just included an extra unlit hilt and made the lightsaber with the lit blade one piece to avoid blade breakage if he fell off the shelf.

Looking at a few reference photos — right down to the insert card art — the included hilt doesn’t match up to the one Kit Fisto used in Attack of the Clones or Revenge of the Sith. Typically, the Black Series team has done an excellent job of matching up the correct weapons with the characters, so this is a baffling outlier.

Worth it?  Kit Fisto was the basic $24.97 price point. The Black Series line rarely feels like a great value especially with the minimal accessories, but he’s not terribly priced for what we get.

Rating: 7.5 out of 10

Kit Fisto would have benefitted from more accurate gear and paintwork, but he’s not an awful figure. He’s a figure that would certainly benefit from an upgrade a few years down the road.
