G.I. Joe Classified Series Night Force Psych-Out review (2026)

Night Force Psych-Out gives the GI Joe Classified Series the first take on the Joe’s Deceptive Warfare specialist. Unlike some of the other variants in the line, the original Real American Hero line did have a Night Force Psych-Out as part of the original Night Force lineup.

Of course, the Classified Series crew was game for the challenge to make the Night Force Psych-Out actually look like a cool figure. Is it cool enough that I might not need to get the eventual classic colors original version?

Let’s see if this take on Psych-Out really is mind-blowing or was just an illusion.

Packaging: Night Force Psych-Out has the standard Classified Series packaging save the Night Force logo. Otherwise, the packaging has the blue accent and the window that’s just a little too stylized to see all the accessories on the left side. He’s No. 215 in the line. That’s wild considering I have about 80% of these figures.

The right side features the smaller version of the stats and the “QR Code to Nowhere.” On the left side, there’s a portrait of Night Force Psych-Out ready to go into action against Crystal Ball and his DIRE Tech.

Over on the back, is an action render of Psych-Out on the streets with his tech fully charged and ready for action. The smaller portraits feature his Psychic Resonator Pack and two blast effects.

For his skills stats, he ranks a 4 in psyops (obviously), 3s in classified and electrical engineering and a 2 in intelligence.

Likeness: Night Force Psych-Out has a classified update on his chest armor with sleeker, rounded edges with recessed circles on either side and a slot in the center. It looks like a modernized version of his hi-tech (for the time) 1987 armor. Classic Psych-Out had a funky quilted shirt with an opening that looked like a collar leaving some of his neckline exposed up to the armor.

For his 2026 look, now he’s got a collared shirt with the sleeves rolled up like his RAH look and separate long sleeves leading to his thicker gloves. In a slight change from the original look, he’s got gauntlets around his wrist to project his Psychic Resonator energy.

He’s got a thicker belt with a holster on his left hip and a separate sheath on his right leg.  Like the RAH figure, Night Force Psych-Out has shorter boots.

I really like the head sculpt as it captures the classic look down to the stray hair strand coming down. He’s got a real intensity in his eyes that look like he’s missed a few hours of sleep trying to crack Cobra’s psyops schemes.

He retains the sonic receivers with the small antenna on the back of his head. The detail on this tech is nicely done.

Scale: Psych-Out definitely doesn’t need to be some towering presence and is about average height compared to the majority of his fellow Joes. He lines up well with the rest of the 87 since he’s got more of a slender build.

Paint: Night Force Psych-Out has a pretty cool paint job, which seems like it might be the preferred color scheme for him like the Classified Tiger Force Outback.

It mostly lines up with the RAH Night Force Psych-Out colors with just a few tweaks. Psych-Out keeps his blonde hair as opposed to it magically shifting brown because he joined the special unit. His headpiece is black instead of silver, which makes sense as his hair didn’t get darker.

His chest armor is a flat metallic black, but the cool change here is the addition of a hot pink illumination-style paintjob for the circles and slots. It really looks like his Psychic Resonator is channeling some serious energy possibly even charging his armor for a little extra protection a la Black Panther?

The rest follows the vintage color scheme with the shirt going from a cheery lime green to a dark grey. The longer sleeves are a lighter grey. His gloves, belt, holster, sheath and boots are all black though the belt has a silver buckle.

To lean into the more insomniac angle, Night Force Psych-Out’s eyes have a little darker shading under them to show the effect of the lack of sleep.

Articulation: Night Force Psych-Out has the usual Classified Series articulation rollout. He might not be at the front of the battlelines, but Psych-Out can more than handle his own in a firefight or sit at a desk and ponder how to crack the latest Cobra propaganda video streaming on social media.

Accessories: Night Force Psych-Out gets a decent number of accessories.

First up is his Psychic Resonator pack. This has some awesome detailing including a center piece that looks like the psychic energy is cycling and ready to get unleashed.

The paintwork here is really well done with the interior having the same hot pink and a lighting style effect in the center. The pack also has some silver paint applications around the center section.

There are also two translucent pink blast effects that plug into the pack, which seems like the exhaust energy spewing out to provide an overload.

That leads to his big weapon, his NF-88 Psionic Disruptor. This is a larger blaster with the usual Classified Series level of detail. It delivers concussive force to help explain its size. There is a larger trail of translucent pink psionic energy that can get plugged into the barrel making for a perfect visual counter to Crystal Ball’s neon green DIRE Tech.

For more intense action, Night Force Psych-Out also has a smaller pistol. Again, the detail on the pistol is impressive.

This fits into his holster without any issue. His knife looks threatening enough and definitely doesn’t look like an afterthought.

Finally, he gets a psionic shield. This is translucent pink and is sculpted like a continuously generating energy shield that can plug into either of his gauntlets.

Worth it? Night Force Psych-Out is another figure that feels like it’s worthy of the $27.99 price point. He’s got a nice array of unique accessories and is another great example of the Classified Series delivering a tremendous value for the price.

Night Force Psych-Out overdelivered with a great sculpt and some fun, unique accessories making for one of the stronger additions to the line in 2026.
