10 best Comic Book Movie Costumes

3. Superman

Superman IV Quest for Peace Superman poseJKL: From Superman Returns to Man of Steel, each subsequent Superman costume has been a little bit more disappointing than the original, which is understandable since Christopher Reeve’s attire is pretty much perfect and straight out of the comic book.

There’s no elaborate patterns and “just because” elements added. It looks a bit dated now, but it’s one of the all-time classic costumes.

GP: Christopher Reeve’s Superman is a great example of preserving the costume from comic to movie. Not that I don’t adore the cool costumes that artists have created over the years, the more creative license that costume designers take, the farther we get from the original Superman.superman-by-jose-garcia-lopez

CS: Superman has expanded and contracted many times in the history of his mythology. To me, it isn’t so much a translation as an advancement to see the oft hated Henry Cavill undies-inside costume take over for the Reeves trad route. Sometimes change is good. I don’t want to see someone’s underwear and no it isn’t doing its proper job against skin. In some ways no doubt Superman is just like the rest of humanity… Safety first… Keep ’em covered, bro.
