Star Wars The Black Series Prince Xizor review (2025)

Prince Xizor getting a Black Series figure went from seeming very likely to not at all with the near erasure of all of the cool Expanded Universe stories.

Thankfully, the ruler of Black Sun did make his BS debut in 2025 along with fellow Shadows of the Empire key player Dash Rendar, who I largely really liked.

Let’s see if the sun is shining on Prince Xizor or if he needs to stick to the shadows of my display.

Packaging: As part of the Shadows of the Empire subline, Prince Xizor is packed with the standard dominant black setup with rich, vibrant purple as its accent color. It really stands out. He’s No. 1 in the line so he kicks off the SOTE mural, which continues with Dash.

His bio does a decent job of explaining his role in the galaxy and how he’s mostly just interested in manipulating events to work out on his behalf.

Likeness: Prince Xizor has a unique look even among Star Wars characters. He certainly has a main boss aesthetic with his mostly bald head save the topknot and a long flowing robe laced with gold accents.

His head sculpt includes a detail cranial crest and high cheekbones. He’s really coming off menacing and sinister just like he was portrayed in the novel and video game.

Prince Xizor’s robe is very well done with the flared rounded shoulder pads, the detailing leading to the center portion, the ornate pattern throughout and the complex belt system. The trim of the robe has gold accents, and he’s got some bands on both his biceps and wrists. The latter help draw attention to his longer fingers and extended fingernails. That adds another level to his visual threat factor.

One note, the metallic part of his robe and the bicep bands are made up of a semi-translucent plastic, which catches the light really well and boosts that aura of importance.

The back of the robe is open so you can see his complex spinal ridge, which looks fantastic.

He does have some soft good elements with strips stemming around his elbow. They would hinder his articulation and look goofy if they were plastic, so this was a smart decision. The Black Series team has done a great job of incorporating soft goods into predominantly plastic outfits.

Largely hidden by the robe, Prince Xizor has wrapped boots. This is the one element of his design that seems kinda basic for such an underworld mover and shaker.

Scale: Prince Xizor isn’t remarkably tall standing at 6′ meaning he is definitely looking up at his rival, Darth Vader at 6’8″. Still, he should tower over the 5’1″ Princess Leia.

MORE:

Paint: Prince Xizor has a subtle mix of colors with his deep plum robe, the gold elements and little black accents contrasting with his green skin. There was some potential for some significant paint issues, but the paintwork is impressively done.

There are just a few bits of overspray on the edges of the robe’s trim and some of the wrist loop has some very minor missing gold paint apps. It’s so small that it’s silly to quibble over it.

The darker wash on his head does a great job of bringing out the details.

Articulation: Prince Xizor doesn’t need a ton of articulation since he’s more of a schemer. It’s not like he’s going to start battling Luke Skywalker in a duel or having a battle with Dash Rendar. Really, he just needs to hold his staff and look menacing while trying to put the moves on Princess Leia.

His robe skirt doesn’t fully impair his movement since they have some slits to allow him to walk. The downside of course is that he’s unable to sit down.

Prince Xizor has:

  • neck
  • ball-jointed shoulders
  • elbow (with swivel)
  • wrist
  • wrist hinge
  • torso (ball joint)
  • hips
  • thighs
  • knees (swivel)
  • ankles

Accessories:  Prince Xizor only gets one accessory — his signature staff. The BS team didn’t shortchange it though as it has different, unique sections. The crown has a sun emblem. It’s got a purple sash below, followed by an ornate top section, a detailed grip and handle.

Worth it?  Prince Xizor just made the cut to still get released for the old $24.99 price point. That’s more than fair considering all of the unique sculpting required despite the lack of accessories. You can get him now for under $19.

Rating: 9.5 out of 10

The Black Series team did a great job with Prince Xizor as they expand the Shadows of the Empire story in figure form.
