Spider-Man: Brand New Day snares 4th weekend box office win
Spider-Man: Brand New Day dominated the box office for a fourth weekend despite some scary competition from the latest in the Insidious saga.
Brand New Day continued its historic run with an additional $39 million to take its domestic total to $855 million. That puts Spider-Man Brand New Day in rarified air as only the fourth domestic film to cross that mark.
By next weekend it will surpass Avengers: Endgame at $858 million and set its sights on the highest grossing domestic champ —Star Wars: The Force Awakens at a very likely to be topped $936 million.
Worldwide, there Spider-Man Brand New Day has earned a massive $2.2 billion, now only trailing Endgame ($2.7 billion) and Avatar ($2.9 billion).
In second place was Insidious: Out of the Further, which brought in $25.3 in addition to $35 million from overseas for a worldwide total of $60 million. The series has always been budget-friendly allowing it to make a profit. That’s the case with Out of the Further, which cost just $18 million.
Out of the Further is slightly trailing behind the 2023 installment, The Red Door, which opened domestically with $33 million.
In third place with $19.5 million was The Odyssey, which continues to be a box office force in its own right. For its sixth weekend, the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time now has $539 million and $1.44 billion globally.
The End of Oak Street and PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie, battled it out for fourth and fifth place at around $9 million dollars so the final Monday numbers will determine which film in its second weekend comes out ahead.
Jason Statham’s latest action film, Mutiny, was in sixth place with $7.5 million. That’s a drop from his 2024 film, The Beekeeper, which opened to $17 million, but a bit higher than his other 2026 film, Shelter, which debuted with $5 million.
Shelter wasn’t a hit domestically managing a meager $11 million although it did fare better overseas with $45 million so that pattern could also hold true for Mutiny.
