G.I. Joe Classified Series Nemesis Immortal review No. 140 (2024)
Nemesis Immortal, or Nemesis Enforcer, is the big bruiser of Cobra-La. He’s the guy/creation(?) that makes sure Golobulus’ rule gets carried out among the citizens of Cobra-La. In the GI Joe Energon Universe Cobra Commander mini-series, Nemesis Immortal made a nightmare-inducing debut. For most Joe fans, their main connection to him is through his appearance in GI Joe: The Movie, where he tore through a HAVOC, blinded Roadblock and broke Serpentor out of prison before getting bodied by Sgt. Slaughter.
With the Classified Series team getting close to completing the Core 4 of Cobra-La characters it seemed like a good time to finally spring Nemesis Immortal out of his plastic prison to usher in the new wing (ha ha ha) of my CS collection. Let’s see if this menace flies or needs to get thrown into a ravine.
Packaging: Nemesis Immortal gets a special deluxe packaging with a unique orange, light purple, yellow and white color scheme and fantastic artwork courtesy of John Giang. I love this presentation with all the organic creatures crawling all around the front and sides. The big wide window shows off the figure nicely for MOC collectors.
On the right side is the small stats and the QR Code to Nowhere. Over on the left side is the larger portrait of Nemesis Immortal so you can fully appreciate all of the details Giang put into the artwork. On the back is a fantastic rendered image of Nemesis Immortal flying off while Cobra Commander is held captive in a clam. The techy organic frames show off a bit of the accessories and alternate portrait.
For his skill stats, Nemesis Immortal scores a 4 in strength and vanguard and 3s in infiltration and hand to hand combat.
Likeness: This take on Nemesis Immortal, which was highly influenced by his design in Cobra Commander (check out the trade paperback on Amazon) is not a direct translation of The Movie or Real American Hero figure line design.
The CS design team, particularly lead designer Lenny, kept pushing the limits of the format. Sure, they could size up the old designs, but they saw the CS line as a way to lean into the ability to add more details to figures that had to be fairly basic back in the 80s. The result is this massive behemoth. What’s really fun is seeing The Movie design and seeing how Lenny and co. used that as the guide to incorporate so much more detail.
Nemesis Immortal’s head sculpt is actually one of the few one untouched aspects from the old design. He’s got a ferociously intense expression like he’s ready for some Joes — or Dreadnoks to cross him. His CS design leans further into the organic nature of Cobra-La.
Nemesis Immortal’s collar piece is almost like plate tubing with growth on random parts. There’s more on his chest armor with all kinds of various pock marks throughout. His center diamond gem is untouched.
He’s got a cord-like belt keeping his codpiece in place. That has some small protrusions as well so the Joes can’t just go low and expect easy results. The shoulder armor has a seashell type flow to the layering, which looks very cool. Nemesis Immortal has wild gloves starting with more of the coil connecting the forearm blades and an armored shell protecting his wrists. It’s a very creepy visual, but totally in line for him.
The holsters are still along his thighs, which have thigh-high armor plating that has very interesting texturing. His shin protectors extend down to his two toe feet with nails peeking out.
Nemesis Immortal has smaller thinner wings that resemble bat wings instead of the big swooping gargoyle style wings in the previous design. They’ve got all kinds of textured detail and veins throughout and are a thin enough material that they won’t weigh him down.
Additionally, they have hinge points allowing for some articulation of their own. They attach via a backpack type of design. The backpack has an almost furry like appearance and the edges mirror Nemesis Immortal’s shoulder pads.
His redesign is really, really impressive.
Scale: Nemesis Immortal is massive. He’s around the same height as Sgt. Slaughter and Serpentor so I’d argue he should be even taller as he towered over both in The Movie. Factor in his big shoulder pads, blades and bat wings and he definitely has a huge shelf presence.

Paint: The paintwork on Nemesis Immortal is also very well done. In keeping with the norm for the line, Nemesis Enforcer’s brighter color scheme has been darkened considerably to make him look more menacing. While most of his body is covered in some form of plated armor, Nemesis Immortal’s cowl, chest shoulders, waist and legs are purple.
The shelled armor bits around his neck and collar, gloves, thighs and shins are a deep purple while the chest plate, codpiece, knees and boots are a deeper red with a black wash.
To break up the muted color scheme, his holsters are a bone white with red accents, and the forearm blades and shoulder pads are bone white with a black wash. I really like the work with his head sculpt as the red and orange of his eyes really stand out and the dark red under his eyes indicate that this dude doesn’t get a lot of rest. Protecting Golobulus is tiring work.
Articulation: Despite being a massive looking bruiser, Nemesis Immortal follows the same articulation as the other Classified Series figures. Due to his size, I don’t need him doing flips and big pump kicks.
His size also limits the range of his double-jointed elbows, but he is surprisingly solid at standing despite the wings.
He’s a tank and a lumbering guy so it makes more sense for him to take the slow and steady path to the Joes.
Nemesis Immortal has:
- head
- neck
- shoulders (butterfly)
- elbow (double-jointed)
- forearm swivel
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- torso (ball-jointed)
- waist
- hips (ball-jointed)
- drop down hips
- knees (double-jointed)
- ankles
Accessories: As if Nemesis Immortal needed anything else to look incredibly formidable, he’s got weapons.
First up, are his dual blades. This feels like overkill considering his forearm protrusions, but he doesn’t care about being fair on the battlefield. The blades are jagged and lack any smoothness looking like they would cause massive damage if they struck their target.
I really dig the claw-like hilt, which look like the talons of a smaller Cobra-La beast. To really spiffy it up, there’s a cool red trail printed onto the bone white blade of various intensity. Maybe that’s from the blood of previous victims? The blades fit into his holsters easily.
He also has a squiggly secondary backpack. This appears to be another creature he can use in battle. Cobra-La is big on recycling. It’s got a purple shell with green bendable tentacles that can be used as a snare to capture the Joes in before he presumably tries to impale them.
Finally, he’s got an extra portrait. This one mirrors the shoulder seashell growth framing around his forehead and cheekbones for added protection maybe as he’s charging ahead into battle? The red around the eyes is a bit more pronounced and his pupils are fully gone now showing that Nemesis Immortal is locked in.
Worth It? Nemesis Immortal was $45, which was a fantastic value considering everything packed into this guy. In 2026 prices, he might be closer to $80, but it’s hard to question the work put into him.
Rating: 9.5 out of 10
I wouldn’t have minded him being taller and a tad leaner, but this Nemesis Immortal is such an impressive figure there’s no way I could be disappointed with his Classified makeover.
Where to Get It? He was a Hasbro Pulse exclusive that’s long sold out domestically. He is available in other parts of the world so if you have an international friend, there’s always an option. You can still get the grunts of Cobra-La at retail with the Cobra-La Royal Guard at Amazon or Entertainment Earth.
